Where Passion meets Purpose

In January of 2025 my wife and I were wrapping up a warm winter vacation in South Padre Island, Texas.  As we were buttoning down the hatches in our motorhome and preparing for our multi-day trek home to Iowa, I received a life-changing phone call from my employer of 25 years.  "Your position has been eliminated.” Stunned, but not exactly surprised, I slumped into the camper's dinette and gazed at my wife in disbelief who had just heard both ends of the conversation.

I never imagined a phone call could change my life so instantly.  As I sat there and let it all sink in, I had an "Office Space" moment and pondered. Was I really meant for creating TPS reports in the first place?  There are many aspects of my job that I absolutely loved, especially the people I worked with, but there were also parts that I did not enjoy.  Shock would soon give-way to relief.

In my corporate role, a former boss and wise old man frequently said to me, "Never let a good crisis go to waste."  Often excellent business direction.  But in this moment I found it to be even better personal advice.  During our long drive home my incredible wife Michelle, who knows me better than anyone, encouraged me to trade in my metaphorical "9 to 5" for a happier life.

After a lot of driving, talking, and soul searching, my path became clearer.  By the time we returned home, I knew unequivocally that I needed to be pursuing my hobbies, interests, and passions, of which I have many.  It just so happens that entrepreneurship is one of them so naturally I created Brad Booher Companies to serve as the parent company of my "start-ups" and "all-ins".

Part entrepreneur, part inventor, part woodworker, part drone enthusiast, I have a wide range of interests and passions.  As a businessman, technologist, people leader, and project manager, I also have a broad range of experience and skills.  Bringing these all together in a meaningful way and sharing them with others is what gives me purpose.
